Humla – Jumla – Rara Lake Trek is a wonderful trek which passes through the wilder hidden valley of Humla and Mugu districts. It creates a great experience of cultural and natural diversities rewards with adventure and wild route of North-West Nepal. Humla, Simikot is a gateway of holiest Mt. Kailash and Mugu is the home of astonishing Rara lake and Rara National Park. It offers the incredible views of foothills, arid lands, the lush forest as well as mountains. We start our trek with a scenic flight all the way to Simikot via Nepalgunj from Kathmandu located nearby to Mt. Saipal Peak. From Simikot we start ups and downs hill trails followed by Limtang, Railing Gumba, Baar Gaun, Bokche Gauda, Suna Khada, Phucha via Bhubre Lagna Pass, Apsial Lekh, Melcham, Rimi Village, Chankheli Lekh Pass, Luma Gaun, until we reach our next highlight of the trek Rara Lake. You witness fields with different colors, few green hills and forests fade into desolate glacial valleys leading to high passes making for ever-changing landscapes. People with bit of luck always see the blue sheep, one of the few inhabitants of this extreme area jumping through the rocky terrain. Here, land available on this trail for cultivation is very limited because of rock mountains and stones. A day exploring around Rara Lake one may continue for further downhill to Jumla via Pina Gaun, Bramandu Chaur, Khali Gaun, Khali Pass & Daphe Pass and fly back to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj OR if you have limited holidays you can trek from Rara Lake to Talcha airport and next day morning directly fly back to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj.
This trek is in the alpine meadows and village settings provide a unique experience of southern Humla where the Rara Lake adds spice making your trip memorable forever. Home for hundreds of species of trees, plants, birds and animals, this trek can be organized in different ways including a trip to holy “Mt. Kailash Tour”, “Limi Valley Trek – The Hidden Paradise” and “Humla – Rara Lake Trek”.
